Welcome to CMM Quarterly

We have a new look but it is the same magazine you have come to enjoy over the years. Changes in the internet and security have mandated a newer version of the templates we have been using. So feel free to explore the magazine. If you are new here the magazine was created, since 2007, to bring you the latest CMM information including what's new, training in specific softwares, special editions, etc… Check the About Us section under the Home menu to find out more about us.

Please let us know if we can do anything better.

CMM Quarterly has always been about two things

#1

Provide a site in a magazine format to bring useful information to the CMM programmer and operator. We want to bring information that is useful and not just OEM sales information but articles that "lift the hood" so you can see how your CMM software looks and behaves. We want to bring methodology and understanding of how and when to use that methodology.

I do not sell advertising on this site; however, you will see Mark Boucher Consulting banners on the site. This is a CMM Quarterly company and those leads from the banners make this magazine possible.

#2

It has always been my belief that helping others, even when they are "competition" for the same contracting dollars, is key to success of both my business and my personal life. I've been in this business 35+ years and want to help those who are younger and eventually going to be taking my place. This magazine provides a place for that. As you begin to read their articles and glean from them please visit their web sites and at least acknowledge them for their contributions.

We have always been a free subscription and no author is paid. I do allow each author to submit a advertising banner with each article to promote their business.

I have included a Donate button on this page only. If you feel like you have benefitted from the information here please consider donating.

  • Hexagon and University of Rhode Island form collaborative partnership for advanced manufacturing

New generation of URI engineering students will be prepared for data-powered Smart Manufacturing

Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division announced today it has formed a collaborative partnership with the University of Rhode Island, College of Engineering. Hexagon will provide manufacturing technologies to enable a rich research environment for undergraduate and graduate programs focused on advanced manufacturing. In October, URI opened its new 190,000-square-foot, six-story Fascitelli Center for Advanced Engineering. The new facility will strengthen the College's global leadership in engineering education. The work conducted there will build on research in the areas of clean energy, nanotechnology, robotics, cybersecurity, water for the world, biomedical technology, smart cities and sensors and instrumentation. Hexagon, a multinational company with the North American headquarters of its Manufacturing Intelligence division in Rhode Island, has supported engineering students with an internship program and study abroad assistance.

Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division is a long-time supporter of URI's International Engineering Program that combines engineering, foreign language and study abroad to prepare students for 21st century careers. Many of the company’s employees are URI graduates. Taking the partnership to a new level, Hexagon will provide the facility with state-of-the-industry metrology systems, applications software for both measurement and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM), as well as sophisticated simulation software tools for design engineering. Hexagon’s diverse portfolio of hardware and software makes factories smarter, and helps manufacturers drive Smart Factory initiatives forward.

  • Hexagon Announces OPTIV M CMM Multisensor

Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division announced the launch of the multisensor OPTIV M CMM which deploys Hexagon’s Enhanced Productivity Series (EPS) to provide manufacturers of small and medium precision parts a range of configuration packages optimized for their individual applications.

The EPS concept offers manufacturers a choice of productivity drivers based on their application’s need for throughput, precision, flexibility or shop floor capability. The pre-configured EPS packages help quality engineers and CMM operators to create, execute and analyze measurement routines. The OPTIV M is available in three performance levels of Green, Blue and Chrome.

The configuration makes the OPTIV M future-ready and compatible with a portfolio of contactless and tactile sensors, software and collaborative technologies. In addition to the EPS packages configured for throughput, precision, flexibility or shop floor capability, Hexagon offers a customized version of the OPTIV M.
The OPTIV M CMM is available worldwide via local Hexagon commercial operations and dealers.
